The search for Norwegian DNA

Jensen has searched for true Norwegian DNA, and incorporated it into its latest bed. Norway’s traditional craftmanship is characterised by diversity, creativity, diligence and pride. Considering this, Jensen has crafted a quality bed with a unique design and carefully chosen materials, where every detail shows respect and love for Norway’s history of craftmanship.

Norway’s strong textile tradition, and particularly the highly recognisable eight-petalled ‘Selbu rose’ motif found on many knitted textiles, is the heart of the bed’s design influence. A layered pattern took shape, reflecting the lushness of Norwegian textiles while creating something new.

The colour scheme – Midnight Blue with corner seams and folding seams in red and white – takes inspiration from the Norwegian flag, while the headboard and legs are made from oak. On the headboard, decorative wooden buttons, sewn on with red thread, echo the design of the rest of the bed. There’s more decorative detail on the oak legs, which have been given the appearance of knitted socks, in red and white.

While the exterior of the bed is packed with references to traditional Norwegian craftmanship, the high-quality interior includes many of Jensen’s innovations. For example, to ensure optimal sleep comfort and a good night’s sleep, the mattress features Jensen’s zone system and Aloy 16cm pocket springs. The finishing touch is a beautiful mattress topper, StarRose, whose design is appropriately also inspired by the star-shaped rose pattern of traditional knitting.

Norway’s traditional craftmanship is characterised by diversity, creativity, diligence and pride. Considering this, Jensen has crafted a quality bed with a unique design and carefully chosen materials.
