Our environmental awareness
At Jensen we are aware, each and every day, how important it is to be an environmentally conscious business. Our primary goal is to ensure that what we produce is of the highest quality as regards choice of materials, environmental friendliness and, last but not least, our customers' health. All our products are healthy and free of hazardous chemicals.
Anything that has to do with transport and packaging is thoroughly inspected to make sure it has minimal environmental impact. We ensure that product loss is kept to a minimum and this, in turn, leads to a substantial reduction in the amount of waste. Our waste deliveries to Norsk Gjenvinning, the largest recycling company in Norway, are properly organised and extensive and we separate all our waste as much as possible ourselves. We keep a careful eye on our suppliers to make sure that their forestry activities are sustainable and properly regulated.
We believe it is important to show how environmentally committed we are, to make it easier for our customers to make the right choice. With this in mind we have all the official certificates as well as our own internal rules. Environmental awareness is a key focal area for all our employees. Our aim is optimal production while taking account of the challenges imposed by the environment.
Only the best products can meet the requirements of the 'Nordic Swan', the official ecolabel of northern European countries, which features a swan. The same applies to the other labels we use.
“We spend a third of our lives in bed. That is why it is so important how our bed is made. The 'swan label' imposes requirements with regard to the sustainable use of raw materials, reducing climate impact and a non-toxic daily life. A bed that bears the swan logo therefore contributes to a decent short-term and long-term future. The companies that have taken their environmental responsibility most seriously will perform best in the coming years and Jensen Beds is, of course, one of these," explains Anita Winsnes, director of Nordic Swan.
Waste separation
We sort plastic foil, cardboard, textile types, iron/steel, fluorescent tubes, batteries, electrical waste, aerosols and residual waste.
Grønt Punkt Norge
We are a member of 'Grønt Punkt Norge', a non-profit organisation that recycles packaging. We make sure that all the packaging we purchase is environmentally friendly.
Production loss and waste reduction
The factory pays considerable attention to reducing the quantity of waste generated during production. With this in mind we have invested in relevant equipment and software and have already reduced our production loss and our waste by 18%.
Norsk Gjenvinning
Every year we return approximately 516,000 kilos of waste to the Norsk Gjenvinning recycling company. We have return arrangements in place for euro pallets, special pallets (foam sheets in various sizes), pallet boxes, intermediate plates, intermediate rails, foam chips and foam sheets with flaws.
Nordic Swan
No flame retardants which are harmful to people's health, or other hazardous chemicals, have been used to treat the wood, metal and textiles.
